Seeing the need for a
chapter in East Tennessee, a group of
Hudson-Essex-Terraplane Club members met in March 1986 to organize the
Smoky Mountain Heartland Chapter. Enthusiasm for the new chapter
quickly grew, and a petition for charter was submitted. It was granted
in July of that year at the H-E-T Club National Meet in Golden,
Colorado.
The SMHC is dedicated to the preservation of all Hudson, Essex and Terraplane motorcars, and Dover Trucks, built by the Hudson Motor Car Co. from 1909 to 1954, and by the Hudson division of American Motors Corporation from 1954 to 1957. We also recognize the British-built, Hudson-powered, Railton and Brough-Superior. All cars are welcome. Members receive "Hudson Happenings," a newsletter which tries to provide something for everyone. Meets are usually held the third Saturday of the month, nine meets per year, with the location announced by mail and on the Chapter Website. Our Calendar of Events includes an annual weekend-long joint meet with the Mid-South, Dixie and Dogwood Chapters of the H-E-T Club. Dues are $10 per year, payable in March. Ownership of a Hudson Motor Car Co. product is not required. However, you MUST be a member of the Hudson-Essex-Terraplane Club, Inc. The Smoky Mountain Heartland Chapter serves all of Tennessee in the Eastern Time Zone. |
